GoldenPass Express

It runs direct from Montreux on Lake Geneva to Jungfraujoch gateway Interlaken Ost in the Bernese Oberland in about 3 hours 15 minutes - without passengers needing to change trains at Zweisimmen. Three classes are offered, including Prestige Class with rotating seats. The route is included with the Swiss Travel Pass (seat reservation extra). GoldenPass Express FAQs

What makes the GoldenPass Express unique?
It is the world's first gauge-changing panoramic train - the bogies adjust automatically at Zweisimmen so passengers do not have to change trains between metre-gauge MOB and standard-gauge BLS networks. Before its 2022 launch, the route required a manual change.
How long does the GoldenPass Express take?
About 3 hr 15 min direct from Montreux to Interlaken Ost. The previous multi-leg version took roughly an hour longer because of the train change.
What is Prestige Class on the GoldenPass Express?
Prestige Class offers oversized rotating seats (passengers can face either direction or each other), extra legroom, a welcome drink, panoramic windows and floor-to-ceiling glass at the front of the train.
Is the GoldenPass Express included in the Swiss Travel Pass?
Yes - the full route is covered. You only pay the seat reservation fee, which starts at CHF 20 in 2nd class.
